ritual.for her

installation.ritual | Paper, plastic, plaster, bamboo, brick | Ozu | Sabina | Italy | 2008

The concept of this installation is inspired by the ritual performed throughout Asia when someone passed away. After the setting is prepared and the Heart Sutra – in this context, a Buddhist prayer – has been read, all the props used for the set-up of the installation were burnt as a symbolic gesture signifying the transfer of the dead person’s belongings to the afterworld.

“Ritual. for Her” was done for a good friend’s sister in the summer of 2008.
