creeping
installation | pine cone | Casaterra Residency | Puglia | Italy | 2008
Its environment of pine trees, with lots of cones having fallen to the ground, stimulated the artist to contemplate upon processes of creeping and accumulation. Numerous cones were picked up, collected and assembled in a circular arrangement without particular use. The accumulated pine cones impress the viewer with a sense of how the forces of nature and time are producing their own unpredictable imprints of change in texture and shape, in which the original arrangement itself is gradually withering away.
